Yewtree Primary School is divided into 3 Key Stages of learning:
- Foundation Stage – Nursery and Reception (Carle, Inkpen and McKee)
- Key Stage One (KS1) – Years 1-2 (Dodd, McNaughton, Blake and Seuss)
- Key Stage Two (KS2) – Years 3-6 (Kinney, Ahlberg, Dahl, King-Smith, Walliams, Shakespeare and Horowitz)
KS1 class sizes are of up to 30 (a Government requirement). Although not a Government requirement in KS2, we aim to keep classes sizes up to 30 wherever possible in order for the children to continue to benefit from the larger adult to child ratio. All classes are supported by classroom assistants at varying times of the day but full time support is given to the Nursery and Reception classes.
To provide extra support for some children in Key Stage One we also have a highly effective Nurture Class. This class provides children with extra opportunities to develop their understanding of the social and emotional aspects of their learning.
