I hope that you have all had a delightful, if not different Christmas and have stayed well and safe throughout the Christmas break. Looking at the positives, I think this may be the first year in many that I have not been attached to the cooker feeding the masses, I even managed to sit down!
As you may already be aware the Government announced on the 30th December that schools in the Dacorum Area can open as of the 4th January. I understand that this decision, with rising infection rates in the area, may make many of you feel quite anxious but I can reassure you that all the necessary safety measures are in place to keep your child(ren) as safe as possible at school.
Our Covid-19 procedures will be the same as Autumn Term, your child(ren) will remain in their year group bubbles throughout the day, handwashing and regular cleaning will continue and lunches and playtimes will be staggered. Can I please ask you to continue supporting us all to stay safe and well by wearing a face covering (mask/visor) at all times when on site, maintaining a 2-metre distance following the one-way system and avoiding crowding outside gate areas. We will continue with our one-parent/carer rule at collection/drop off to ensure we have minimised all risks, this will include older siblings that are presently not attending secondary school.
Despite the challenges we still face at present, in these exceptional times, I am delighted to start 2021 off by becoming Yewtree’s new Headteacher. There have been many positive changes from Tracy and I thank her and the staff for all their hard work throughout the Autumn Term. Moving forward, we will strive to continue our upward momentum and positivity to make Yewtree the school we would all like it to be, ensuring your child(ren) have an exciting and rewarding learning journey
I look forward to welcoming you all on the gate on Monday morning. Have a fantastic, if not quiet, New Year. Hopefully 2021 will eventually become a bit brighter!
Mrs Karen Yilmaz (Head Teacher)
