Dear Parents and Carers,
As I conclude my term at Yewtree, I just wanted to say a massive 'thank you' to you all. I have to say that I have been quite overwhelmed by all your kind words. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with you all and I have to say I felt quite sad as I closed my door for the last time on Friday.
Yewtree is on a journey and we have made a significant amount of progress over the Autumn term. We held our Pupil Outcome Meetings in the last week of term and it was great to have feedback on how well whole class guided reading is going and the impact it is already having despite the fact we only introduced this in November. As we know, reading is a 'life skill' and having a rich and broad reading diet is something we are continually reviewing at Yewtree.
The whole team has worked incredibly hard at times in the face of adversity. COVID has not made our job easy and there have been lots of changes throughout the term to enable us to stay safe - thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
COVID has also meant that our original Christmas plans have been scuppered as we enter a new phase in Tier 4. These are certainly trying times and I am sure you feel disappointed that rules have once again changed. We just have to get through this and come out the other side after all, together we are stronger. The most recent advice for schools is that Primary and Nursery Schools are expected to open at the start of the Spring Term 2021.
January brings an exciting change for Yewtree, Mrs Yilmaz will be taking the reins as she commences her role of Head Teacher. We have all worked with Mrs Yilmaz over this half term and I know she is really excited to start her role. I know you will all give her a warm 'Yewtree' welcome and make her very much part of the family.
From my family to all of yours, I wish you a Happy Christmas and more importantly that you all stay safe and stay healthy
