What we have been up to – Autumn 1
This half term Year 2 Seuss have settled in to being part of a bigger class and the new challenges of Year 2.
We have been focused on our health and fitness within our PE, PSHE and Science lessons, learning how to keep healthy with washing hands, choosing healthy foods and taking part in a range of exercise and fitness activities. Miss Macmillan brought baby Sophie in for us to compare being 6 to 6 months old. We also challenged Year 6 to see if we get faster as we get older and discovered that if we look after our bodies we will be fitter and stronger as we get older, although might slow down as we become adults as some of us are faster than Miss Cook in a race.
In maths we have been focusing on the place value of 2 digit numbers, recognising how many ten and ones are in the numbers then comparing numbers and measures. We have been improving our decoding for reading with phonics and learning lots of traditional fairy tales in English and guided reading lessons. We enjoyed acting out Rapunzel and writing fantastic diary entries as different characters. For our arts week before half term we are learning the traditional tale of Baba Yaga and more about the country of origin, Russia, through art projects, music and cooking activities.
