Spring Two Update
In English we have been exploring the book Jasper’s Beanstalk linked with our Science week topic—Plants. In Maths we have been looking at numbers to twenty. We have explored word problems; finding the missing whole and the missing part and compared numbers to 20 in different contexts.
In history we explored Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole who both played an important part in the history of medicine and hospitals. In RE we enjoyed learning about the Wudu procedure, Puja ritual and how Catholics use rosary beads before exploring the Easter story. Our PSHE learning involved looking at how we learn best and we all set ourselves goals we wanted to achieve in school. In Art we studied Van Gogh’s Sunflower series before painting our own flowers. During Music lessons we learnt a new song; Round and Round and in PE we have been learning new ball skills within our Hockey lessons.
Our Wow moments of the half term were dressing up for World Book Day and Science week where we conducted a range of experiments focussing on the 5 enquiry skills we use as scientists. We measured the wind looking for patterns, observed dye transporting through celery and fruit decaying before planting seeds to test if they really need water and light to grow.
