Termly Update
Autumn 2
This half term we have enjoyed learning about Guy Fawkes and the gun powder plot and learnt why we celebrate bonfire night. We have read lots of books and particularly enjoyed reading ‘Stop, That’s not my story’. In maths we have explored different methods of addition and subtraction and can use lots of different resources to show our working out. In DT we have learnt how to cut and prepare a variety of fruits to make our own fruit kebabs and used our computing skills to record ourselves like TV chefs. In RE we have learnt all about Christmas and how Christians celebrate it. In science we have been learning about seasonal changes in Autumn and Winter.
Near the end of the term we turned our attention to our Christmas play ‘Bethlehem Bake Off’ and learnt lots of songs.
Autumn 1
The children in Year 1 have settled amazingly into their new routine. We have enjoyed learning about our local area in geography. We looked at maps and aerial photos of the school grounds. In English we enjoyed reading Jasper’s beanstalk and Puffin Peter. In maths we have been learning about position and direction before moving on to exploring numbers to 10. In RE we have been learning about ‘Who do Christians say made the world’. We took part in celebrating harvest festival and enjoyed singing with the rest of our key stage.
