Year One - Willow and Chestnut
Autumn 1st Half
This half-term we have enjoyed learning about our local area in geography. We looked at maps and aerial photos of the school grounds and created our own maps of the school.
In English we enjoyed reading Stanley’s stick and Farmer Duck . We have also been learning about instruction using the book Gruffalo crumble as a stimulus. In maths we have been learning about position and direction before moving on to exploring numbers to 10. In art we have been learning about portraits and have experimented with poster paint and watercolours. We created our own versions of ‘the girl with the pearl earring’ and ‘Mona Lisa’. In PE we have improved our ball skills. In RE we have been learning about different faiths and their festivals. We took part in celebrating harvest festival and enjoyed singing with the rest of our key stage.
We also had a visit from Electric Umbrella who came in to visit the whole school and remind us ‘there’s no such thing as normal’.
