Cross Country in School Next Week
Thu 12 Nov 2020Dear Parents/Carers
The children will be taking part in Cross Country running next week during their PE lessons.
They may get a bit muddy, so we are asking for a change of uniform and shoes to be brought to school. (This should be in a named carrier bag, so that items of clothing do not get mislaid).
Have a great day.

Year 1 - Teach Your Monster to Read
Thu 12 Nov 2020Dear Year One Parents,
Miss Pike and Mrs Hollins are very excited to share Teach your Monster to Read with the children. Each child now has a login and password (found on/in the reading records) and you can access the website at here or use the app.
Keep an eye on the school FB page as we share every time the app is free.
The children can earn certificates which will be printed regularly at school and shared in our class celebration assemblies.
We look forward to learning and sharing together.

EYFS New Outdoor Learning Project
Sun 08 Nov 2020This year we are thrilled to be starting the build of our new and exciting EYFS outdoor learning environment. This project will be constructed in two phases with phase one being completed by Christmas.
Phase one includes the installation of the safe astro turf flooring, spider climber, tunnel hill, mud kitchen, sand pit with mark making boards and moveable stools and boards.
We are super excited for our new outdoor learning environment and this will really help us to develop our physical skills outdoors.

Thank You - 02.11.2020
Mon 02 Nov 2020Dear Parents and Carers,
I just wanted to say thank you for wearing your masks this morning; it is lovely to see the Yewtree family pulling together to ensure that we all stay safe.
I am meeting with my senior team this afternoon to review afternoon collection arrangements with any changes implemented for Thursday 5th November - these will of course be communicated to you in advance.
Having read the initial information published, childcare arrangements such as Sherpa (breakfast club and after school club) will be able to operate along with the football clubs that operate directly after school as they offer a childcare service. As always these arrangements are subject to change based upon information provided by DfE and the Government.
I am aware that parents have responded to my message on Saturday on facebook. Unfortunately I do not have access to that so as previously communicated please email me directly head@yewtree.herts.sch.uk. Thank you to those parents who did email me over the weekend - I have responded to you all.
Wishing you all a lovely Monday
Kind regards
Tracy Prickett

Half term catch up from Yewtree
Fri 30 Oct 2020Dear Parents and Carers,
I do hope you have all had a lovely half term despite the rather inclement weather. I managed to get out and about today with my twins. We went to Ashridge House and did the pumpkin trail which I have to say was rather pleasant. Even better that George fell asleep for the journey home only to wake when we went to get some Halloween gingerbread biscuits.
Halloween is very different for us all this year and tomorrow we are going to wander around the area spotting rainbow pumpkins; for everyone we spot they get some sweeties in their bucket - I'm just hoping the weather holds!
You may have seen on Hemel Community Facebook page that tomorrow there is a Halloween motorbike parade driving around Hemel Hempstead starting at Maylands and touring the area. I am also hoping that many of you have taken advantage of the many eateries in Hemel Hempstead offering free lunches for those families who are entitled to free school meals. It is lovely to see the community pulling together during these difficult times.
I just wanted to remind you that school recommences on Monday 2nd November with the gate opening at 8.30am. Sherpa run a breakfast and after school club should you require wrap around care. Bookings are made direct with them.
I hope that you all managed to attend your virtual parent consultation. If you did not manage to attend and would like to have a chat with your child's class teacher please email them directly. The email address is on your parent booklet which was distributed just before half term.
At Yewtree, we are all aware of the importance of regular attendance as that enables children to access the teaching sequence and make great progress. The whole school attendance statistic for the week before half term was 94.9%. An improvement on the previous week however still below the 96% attendance that the Government expects. It would be great to start the first week of the second half of term by smashing that statistic!
Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday
Have a lovely weekend
